2020 to remain challenging, demand to pick up only next year

Although many companies have started resuming operations gradually, demand is expected to restore very slowly. Be it sectors like auto, real estate or tourism, consumer sentiment is not going to get normal very soon. Even though sales are not going to be like in the past, companies need to resume operations to keep working on new products being developed.

Many countries are working on stimulus packages for businesses and economy. This will also help to keep check on unemployment. Never in the history, businesses have shutdown at this scale and then resumed operations. There is still fair amount of risk in starting up fully. Public and private sector leaders should be very careful in planning this exercise. Hopefully usual business continuity plans will be adapted for the current situation to minimize the risk of disruption again.
